The rescue helicopters provide a time-critical response to accidents, medical emergencies, patient transfer services and search & rescue operations for 680,000 people in our community. Since 1989 the service has undertaken over 18,000 missions.
With the help of our supporters, last year the service attended 1,151 missions. Of these,
26% took place in North Canterbury districts.
After the call comes through, the crew are in the air within 10 minutes by day and 20 minutes at night.
“With more and more people in our community needing to use this service, and with costs increasing, the need for support has never been greater.” Christine Prince, Trust CEO
