Sarah Clifford serves as the Coordinator for the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) Mid Canterbury, a pivotal role in providing free, confidential, and impartial advice to the Ashburton community and surrounding areas. With a strong commitment to social justice and community empowerment, Sarah leads a dedicated team of volunteers who assist clients with a wide range of issues, including consumer rights, employment, tenancy, immigration, and family matters.
Under Sarah's leadership, CAB Mid Canterbury has expanded its services to meet the evolving needs of the community. In the 2023–2024 period, the bureau assisted 856 clients, reflecting a significant increase from previous years. This growth underscores the bureau's vital role in the region, offering support through various channels such as face-to-face consultations, phone calls, emails, and specialized clinics.
Sarah's dedication to inclusivity is evident in initiatives aimed at breaking down language barriers and enhancing accessibility. Efforts include recruiting multilingual volunteers and implementing language support systems to ensure that all community members can access the services they need.
