Patria is the Volunteer and Events Manager at Dogwatch and leads their volunteer programme.
Dogwatch Sanctuary Trust is a registered Charitable Trust that specialises in the rescue, retraining and rehoming of abandoned or surrendered dogs. Most of our dogs come from the Christchurch City Council, Waimakariri District Council, Selwyn District Council and Ashburton District Council pounds.
Once rescued, these dogs are cared for by a very dedicated team of 11 staff and over 100 volunteers, at our purpose-built Adoption Centre located at 230 Dyers Road, Bromley, Christchurch. Before going to their very own home, all dogs are assessed, registered, microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, flea’d and wormed. A property check is carried out at their prospective new home to ensure it is secure with full solid fencing.
Dogwatch is the LAST CHANCE for many abandoned or surrendered dogs across Canterbury, and for every dog that is being cared for at Dogwatch, there are many more on ‘limited time’ and in desperate need of a kennel space. Every day that Dogwatch is at full capacity, there is another dog that may never get a second chance. So, we ask that you help us spread the word and OPT TO ADOPT the next time you are considering a four-legged family member.
Dogwatch does not receive any government or council funding, so we rely on the generosity of businesses and people just like you. This may come to us in the form of monetary donations or bequests, food, blankets and bedding, or volunteering your time.
Dogwatch also has a second-hand variety shop located on the corner of Beresford and Hardy Streets in New Brighton. You can support us by donating your quality, unwanted household goods or clothing. We cannot accept electrical goods or large Furniture items.
