I'm Avril Heard-Woollcombe. Based in Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand, my business Karibu Interior Design is not about a particular look or style, but rather a response to my client, the climate, the building's environment, and my client's stage of life.

​I studied interior design at design school in London and was inspired by the impact that an interior space can have. I was always drawn to the arts, and a career in Interior Design felt like an opportunity to integrate artistry into people's day to day life.

The name for my business was inspired by my heritage. I was born and raised in Africa for the first decade of my life and have fond memories of my homeland that will never leave me. The name 'Karibu', meaning a warm welcome, seemed only fitting for my interior design business.

As a designer, my style and philosophy on design is always developing. I am constantly inspired by materials, nature and individual products and pieces.

I can provide a comprehensive and unique interior design service throughout Marlborough and beyond based on total professionalism, attention to detail and customer satisfaction from planning stage through to the finishing touches.

I work together with my clients throughout the building and renovating project, so that it will run smoothly and remain an enjoyable and rewarding experience with an inspiring and welcoming outcome.

At Karibu Interior design, I look at every project with fresh eyes as a new opportunity. I never impose a “typical style" onto a project, instead I develop an overarching concept catered specifically to the client.​
