Ministry of Social Development - Stephanie Chan


Stephanie is part of the MSD team and are passionate about assisting people into employment. They work in a variety of ways with businesses to look at both opportunities and assistance that can help them find the right employees.

They assist in the following ways …

  • We work with working age population aged between 18 & 65yrs

  • People who have completed tertiary and looking for employment

  • People with disabilities or health conditions who want to work or return to work

  • People who have been made redundant

  • Currently working with mosque victims

  • Working with high school students to stop them coming onto benefit

  • Working with tertiary institutions to assist students after they finish their studies

  • Assisting people into apprenticeships


Products available for Employers:

  • Paid work experience – aimed at youth or clients that have little or no experience – 13 weeks

  • Flexi wage – A subsidy we may be able to offer an employer who employs a client who has been out of the workforce for a period of time

  • Mana in Mahi – one-year training subsidy

  • Industry partnerships to assist clients to gain current labour market skills


Services available for Employers:

  • A free recruitment service

  • Free training for clients to upskill – short course such as site safe or TC

  • A free online platform to advertise any current positions

  • Regular employer expos at LSV Burnham Military Camp

  • Grants to assist with start-up job costs such as tools

  • In work support for employer and employee
